The Launch Story

How it works

Every launch gets a proper story

Most launch sites give you a row in a list. We give every launch an article that explains the product, shows it, and helps the right people decide to try it. Launching is free.

  1. 1

    We read your site

You paste your website. Our reader opens your home page, the pages it links to, and the pages those link to: two levels deep, on your own domain only. External links are never followed.

It finds your logo and keeps up to 8 of the images your site already shows, favouring product screenshots over logos and decoration. You can swap any of them for your own.

  2. 2

    The writer drafts your story

The writer works only from what your site says. It never invents customers, numbers, prices or quotes. Anything it had to infer is flagged in the editor under “Check these”, and you decide whether it stays.

The maker note is yours alone. The writer never fills it in.

  3. 3

    You edit, an editor reviews

Rewrite every word in the editor, reorder sections and change images. When you submit, a person reads the whole story before it is published. If something needs fixing, you get a note saying exactly what.

  4. 4

    Launch week

Launches are weekly and each week takes 10. Your story goes live on the Monday that opens your week, and people can vote for it until Sunday at midnight UTC. Afterwards it stays up in its category and the archive.

Once your launch story is approved you can add up to 3 follow-up articles: guides, use cases, deep dives or updates. Each is reviewed the same way.

The badge

Launching is free. In return we ask for one link back: a small “Launched on The Launch Story” or “Featured on The Launch Story” badge on your home page, linking to your story. You choose which, light or dark.

Finding it also proves the site is yours, which puts “Verified” on your story. Addrel="nofollow"to the link if you prefer; either way counts. Keep it up while your story is live.

What we will not publish

Products we cannot open, sites that are not the maker’s own, anything illegal or deceptive, and stories that read like an advert rather than an honest explanation. Ranking is by votes only and is never for sale.
