Privacy Policy
We collect as little as we can, use it only to run The Launch Story, and never sell it.
What we collect
- Your account. Name, email address and profile picture from the sign-in method you choose (Google, GitHub or an email link). We do not keep Google or GitHub access tokens and request no access to your repositories, files or contacts.
- Your launches. The website address you submit, the public pages we read from it, the images we copy from it or that you upload, and the articles you edit.
- Your choices. When you accepted the terms, whether you want marketing emails, and your votes.
- Technical data. Your IP address is used briefly to stop abuse of the sign-in form and appears in server logs, which we keep for up to 30 days.
Why we use it
- To run your account and publish the launches you ask us to publish (our contract with you).
- To keep the service secure and free of spam (our legitimate interest).
- To send you launch tips and news, only if you opted in (your consent).
Emails about your own launches, such as review results or your week going live, are part of the service and are sent whether or not you opted in to marketing.
Who processes it for us
- Our hosting provider in the European Union runs the app and its database.
- Cloudflare stores launch images.
- OpenAI generates first drafts from your website’s public pages. We send it page text, never your account details.
- SendPanda sends our emails from the EU.
- Google and GitHub, if you sign in with them.
What is public
Nothing is public until an editor approves it and its launch week starts. After that the launch, its articles and its images are public, along with the product name and website. Your email address is never shown.
How long we keep it
Account data stays while your account exists. Published launches stay up until you ask us to remove them. Consent records are kept as proof for as long as the related account exists.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account and launches, and you can withdraw marketing consent at any time from your dashboard or any of our emails. Write to hello@thelaunchstory.com. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
